Happy Canada Day, Eh!

Happy Canada Day!
To start off the day, Colorado and Jarom biked down to the court house to the festivities and Colorado got her face painted.

The hats are compliments of Grandma Cambridge. She brought them on her last trip.

All the family then went down to the court house lawn for the Canada Day festivities.

The whole Russell crew!

The cakes before being cut.

Spencer with one of our local RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police). He got shy and didn't want his photo taken.

Avery and Colorado with another RCMP. Don't they just look dashing in their red uniform.

Eating some Canada Day cake. Sure was tasty!

Jarom and Isaac with an RCMP.

Avery missed the face painting so Colorado coloured his face for him. He wanted to be a Monkey.

Guess what? Colorado won herself a bike and helmet. Jason took the oldest kids to the bike rodeo. The RCMP put on a bike course that the kids have to go through. They get a few free items at the end of the course (Colorado got a t-shirt and basket for her bike, Isaac got some head-lights and a horn for his bike and Jarom got a hacky sack). All the kids put their name in a draw and . . . .
Colorado won herself a new bike. She already has a bike, but a new one is so much more fun! This one is a bit bigger than the one she has, so she can grow into it.

Guess what?
Jarom won a new bike helmet.

Later in the day Samuel was full of hugs.

He gave lots to Mommy (BJ).

After lunch we made Maple Leaf cookies with red food colouring. My face is so red from laughing. Colorado took so many shots of me. She would take a photo, look at it and then say, "No that one isn't good, let me take another one."

They turned out great!

We topped them with icing and sprinkles.

Colorado took her new bike for a spin. Mommy and Samuel came along as well. This was Samuel's first bike ride.

I haven't been on my bike in ages. Colorado and I have decided to go together more often. She usually goes out for a ride with Jarom or Isaac.

One last exciting thing. Guess what? Avery won something too (this was the day after Canada Day). He participated in the largest splash contest at the local pool. There was a free 3 hour swim and I (BJ) took the oldest 4 kids. Avery jumped off of the small diving board in his life jacket. He didn't win the contest but put his name in a draw with the other kids who participated. He won a water-proof camera and goggles. He was so excited.

He had to take a bath and try out the goggles. I put some coins on the bottom of the tub for him to search for.

He won't be able to use his new disposable camera at our local pool, because cameras are prohibited in the pool area. We just might happen to be a pedophile. Ya right! We plan to use his new camera this summer when we go to Magic Mountain (a water park) for Colorado's birthday.

To end the day, Jason took the oldest 4 kids to watch the fireworks and I put the younger 2, to bed. Whew! It was a super day! We sure do like our small town of Hampton and all the prizes we won.
