Our 3rd day trip was to Fredericton (1hr and 1o min from our home). We used to live in Fredericton, so the kids were excited to go back for a visit. A friend of ours invited us to a surprise welcome home party for her husband. They are both in the Canadian Armed Forces and her hubby had been away for some time. To start off the trip we decided to do some family history. While checking out the New Brunswick family history site Jason found out where some of his ancestors were buried not far from Fredericton (he was also able to add 3 more names to his family line that he didn't have.) It took some searching, but after asking 3 different people in the area we found the cemetery at the end of a dirt road.
The top tombstone is of James (1796 - 1868) and Comfort (1789 - 1855) Mills. Buried with them are three sons we did not know about: James, William and Thomas.James' and Comfort's other son Asa (1832 - 1910) is buried with his wife Catherine (1837 - 1919) in the bottom tombstone photo.
James and Comfort have another son not buried here: Israel Mills. Israel is Jason's Great-Great-Great Grandfather. We are still trying to find out where he is buried... This line comes from his paternal Grandmothers' line.
After touring the beautiful country side/back roads of New Brunswick we finally ended in Fredericton. We went to a park downtown to have a swim in the wadding pool and play at the park. Samuel wasn't too keen on the pool. He preferred to watch.
Spencer took his time getting into the water. He doens't like to rush things.
The other kids jumped right in.
We ended the evening at our friend's home visiting, swimming in their pool, jumping on the trampoline, roasting marshmallows, eating "Smores", and hot-dogs. Sorry no pics. It was dark out and I forgot the camera in the van.
