Cruisin' on Carvival Dream! Feb 28 - Mar 7, 2010

Over a year ago, Jason and BJ, his brother Adam, his sister Sarah and their spouses planned to send their parents on a Cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. As a surprise, we all went on the Cruise with them!
Jason and BJ had some trouble getting to the Cruise Ship:
Flight out of Saint John cancelled: high winds
We rented a car to Portland, ME
Flight out Portland Maine: nonexistant due to clerical error (they booked Dec. instead of Feb.)
We took a bus to Boston, MA
Flight out of Boston cancelled: mechanical failure
We flew to New York, NY
Missed boat sailing out of Port Canaveral, so we planned to fly to The Bahamas
We flew to Atlanta, GA and spent the night with no baggage.
Flight to Bahamas the next morning turned around due to a "smell" on the plane
Next flight to Bahamas landed 1.5 hours before the boat was to leave
Rushed through immigration, grabbed our bags, taxied to the boat and ran to the ship
Got on the Cruise Ship as they were raising the gang plank!
At the Airport waiting and waiting....no sleep for 24 hours.

Finally a bed in Atlanta (we are wearing our complimentary T-shirts.)

Finally on board! Here is our room. Many 40's style pictures line the hallways.

Hallways are 1000 ft long!

We met up with Jason's parents, Linda and Phil Russell next door. They were glad we made it! They were very shocked to have us all on board with them! Sarah and Bekki got some shots of their surprised looks.

We met Adam and Bekki Russell in Sarah, Corey and baby Sophie Quinlan's room (with a window).
Our Family is together at last!

Jason and a view from the back of the ship (aft).

We arrived Sunday afternoon, just in time to watch the Olympic Gold Medal Hockey Game.
Yay! Canada for the overtime win!

The Lido deck where the Jumbo TV is. Everybody is watching the game.

Waterslides on top of the ship!

Sunday night Formal Dinner. We all sat at the same table.

Corey and Sarah Quinlan with baby Sophie

Jason and BJ Russell in blue on the blue ocean!

Monday mini golf in the sun.

Ice sculpturing on the Lido Deck.

Hangin out in the Hammock. No kids for a week!

Every evening, we got a towel animal and chocolates!

As well as a program for the next day's activities.

Dancing with Martin, our Dining Room waiter. He was so nice. BJ wanted to bring him home.

Food was out of this world! Jason tried it all!

Especially the Desserts!

First Stop Tuesday: St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

We hopped a taxi and went to the Beach!

Ahhhh! Caribbean Blue Ocean!

We met (and almost stepped on) the natural wildlife on the island.

Next Stop Wednesday: St. Maarten, Dutch and French split island.

We parked next to a HUGE cruise ship even bigger than ours!

We took an excursion: a bus tour around the island to see both countries.

Alot of big yachts in the bays.

Here at the border crossing between the Dutch and French.

We went to a market in the French Capital.

BJ bought some banana leaf bracelets.

Old French Fort on the hill behind Jason.

Spices at the Market.

Beautiful Countryside!

Large Lobsters for sale!

We stopped at a beach on the French side (clothes optional).

Beautiful!!
(isn't she?)

Back on the ship for a 2 Day cruise back to Florida. We exercised every morning (almost every morning) in front of the deep blue sea.

Then we lounged around. It was starting to get windy and cold more north.

So we hopped into the hot tub!

You can eat Pizza and drink hot chocolate anytime!

Final Formal Dinner and another dance with Martin!

The highlight of the Dinner was the Chocolate Melting Cake! Mmmmm!

The dinner staff sang us a farewell song!

We had a day to kill on Saturday in Orlando because of our flight was not until Sunday. Hmmm, what to do?
Yeah! Eat at Denny's!

And go to Epcot Centre!

One of the pavillions had a huge Fish Tank with all sorts of fish, sharks and stingrays.

Even a sea turtle.

We went to the Canada Pavillion of course!

There were many sculptured plants!

We had a great time! We plan to take the kids (hopefully) in 2015.

On our trip home through Toronto, our connecting flight to Saint John was overbooked (of course) so they sent us First Class to Montreal instead. Too bad Jason's seat was broken.
We got home at Midnight on Sunday. A special thanks to BJ's mom and sister Chris who watched our 6 kids for us while we were gone. Chris broke her foot somehow during her time with them! What a vacation! To see pics of what the family did while we were away, you have to go to Colorado's blog. They had many adventures such as Crystal Palace (an amusement park), swimming, going to the movies, bowling, snowman making and much much more.
