May 24 Weekend

For those of you out of the loop, we had a surprise 40th birthday party for Jason (his birthday was May 23rd). I scheduled him to go play a game of "RISK" at a friends home for 2 1/2 -3 hours while we set up for the party. When he came home and walked in the door, we all yelled surprise. He saw all the cars by our home driving up the road (to come home) and thought the neighbours were having a get together. He was all smiles when he came in. I told him that we weren't going out to dinner as planned (one of the many lies I had to tell him) and that Jarom wasn't babysitting that night (sorry, another lie).

I pulled him around my side of the counter and showed him that his Mom and Dad were here. He then got teary eyed on us.

We got him good! He didn't have a clue and I was so glad that no one leaked it.

Jason and his Mom (Linda).

Cake time. I made 5 cakes (I hid them all in the freezer and Jason never found them). 1 vanilla, 1 chocolate and 3 angel food cakes with strawberries you could put on top. I told everyone that Jason's favourite cake was strawberry shortcake and that they would have to fight him for a piece from one of the three cakes. We also had icecream to go with the cakes.

A Superman action figure was on the vanilla cake (had to fish it out of one of the toy boxes and give him a bath and a touch up paint job). That cake had written on it, "You're Our Super Hero Dad!"

Some of the partiers.

Samuel with our friend Krista.

Some old friends joined the party. Carol Crilley (Spragg) and her sister Bonnie Wetmore (Spragg) - sorry Bonnie is not in the photo. The Spragg's and Phil's (my Father-in -law) parent's were long time friends. Carol, her sister and brother's families all live in Saint John and attend the ward there.

While Grandma and Gramdpa Russell visited we did some fun things. The kids played with some of the cool toys Grandma and Grandpa brought.

Watched some movies that Grandma and Grandpa brought.

Jumped on the trampoline.

Checked out some things on the computer.
Vegged out on the front deck. Spencer looking through Jarom's binoculars at the Kennebecasis River across the road from our home.

We had nice sunny weather while Grandma and Gramdpa visited.

We played at the school play grounds.

We went to the beach in Saint John. It was hot in Hampton, but when we got to the beach in Saint John it was cool and foggy. It's usually cooler in the city. That didn't stop the kids from playing in the water and sand. The tide was still going out.

We played at the park by the ocean and had some snacks. All that playing in the water and sand makes you hungry!

Later that night we went to a friends home to have a bon fire, roast some weiners, make Smore's and shot off some fireworks. Grandma and Grandpa out did themselves with the fireworks. The kids really enjoyed them!

Our friend Melanie (to the left of Jason) is due to have her baby in a little over a week.

Thanks for coming to visit us Grandma and Grandpa it was tons of fun. We hope to see you again this summer!
