Summer Vacation 2010: Day One

Even though Dad is off work for the summer, we took the last week of July as a Family Vacation Week. On Day 1, a Monday, we decided to take a tour of the beaches around the Kingston Penninula where we live. We started in Hampton (on the right beside the green number one on the map). We drove counter clockwise around the penninsula and crossed three free rivers via ferry (white circles on the map). We stopped at three locations circled in yellow.

At the first stop, we went to Grandbay-Westfield for a picnic lunch.

At our next stop, we found a small beach called Victoria Beach. It had warm water and a short rain storm came while we were there.

Samuel liked to throw rocks into the river.

Spencer and Avery liked to play in the sand.

Isaac, Colorado and Jarom (not pictured) liked to swim in the water.

At our next stop, we went to a small Provincial Park called Oak Pt., we brought bikes for the 4 oldest kids and they rode them around the Park. It also had some beaches.

Samuel went backpacking and Spencer went strollering.

By the end of the day, things got really windy and it was threatening to rain so we packed up for home.

Here are some of our buff kids posing and showing off their Russell Muscles.

Colorado saved her birthday money and bought an ipod Touch on Kijiji, she is now with the in-crowd.

That evening, we had a campfire at our home. We cooked a tinfoil supper (pork chips, potatoes, carrots and green beans) in the coals of the fire and then made some delicious S'mores! We also purchased a new 13 man tent that the kids have been sleeping on and off in. It is one HUGE tent and we love it.

Check out Mom's funky boots!
