One day last week (Thursday I think?) We went for a walk/hike in the woods up behind our house. Our foster toddler was visiting family so the only ones we had to piggy back when they got tired were Samuel, Spencer and Avery (a few times). I would of loved to have been piggy backed but no one volunteered. I probably would of broke their back. Here is Samuel with his back pack. His curly haired bear is sticking out of the pack. Colorado kindly hid the younger boys stuffed animals in her bag and as we went along put them on the trail. The boys were so happy to have them. Samuel his bear, Spencer his dog and Avery his cow.
First we hiked to the stream/small creek. Jarom got nominated to carry Samuel's bear and Spencer's dog.
Colorado caught us some fish to see.
Along the trail we saw some creepy critters. This cool lookin fat, green caterpillar.
This baby toad.
A bigger toad. We found more toads but didn't take pics of them.
We saw this neat looking hornets/wasps nest. Some of the kids thought it was empty until we passed by it and they saw the hornets/wasps going in and out of it. Whew!! Thank goodness no one threw a rock at it. They asked if they could. Good job they listened to me and didn't because I know the little ones wouldn't have been able to run too fast before being stung.
We made it to the cabin (about a 2 mile walk). We took a break and had the lunch we brought.
Our neighbour built this cabin for hunting. There's lots of wood stacked out side and inside is a table and chairs. Two drop down beds and there used to be a wood stove, but it has been removed.
One handsome guy.
Jarom and Colorado.
Isaac and Spencer.
Samuel at the out-house.
Mom and Avery.
Isaac. I know we all wear our silly lookin hats but all of us sun burn and we didn't want horse fly bites on our heads. We sprayed ourselves good with bug spray before leaving the house.
On our trip back we stopped at the creek again to catch some more fish and wade in the water.
We found more frogs and had tons of fun.
