2012 New Brunswick Russells

We ended 2011 off with a bang! Not only did Grandma Cambridge, Aunt Chris and her daughter Alicia come visit us during the Christmas holidays, but we got a surprise guest!  Little Trenten came to our family as a foster child. He was 9 months old when he came at the end of the year. He stayed with our family for 9 more months.  As a result, the past year has been different juggling not only our six kids but we had Trenten as well!

He was a big boy, and full of energy. We would always need to be around the Saint John area so he could visit his mom, dad and grandparents throughout the week. It was a pleasure having him. He left us in October to live with his dad and grandma. We still keep in touch and recently we dropped off a Christmas treat. We miss you Trenten!

On February 6th, Spencer turned 5 years old! He started Kindergarten in September. He loves to draw pictures, learn his letters and numbers, and play with his Avenger toys.

Jason still teaches an early morning (6:40 am) seminary class at the Church to the high school members every day.  Jarom and now Colorado go to early morning seminary with their dad. BJ was released from the Primary organization and now teaches the Adult Sunday School class full time every Sunday.

In the spring, we decided to plant a special garden with 4 x 4 boxes called “Square foot” Gardens.  We planted veggies in each square foot in a wooden box that had a special soil mix.  Jason had the boys at work make vertical trellises to grow the pumpkins and squash upwards on the trellis.  We had lots of good stuff growing, including potatoes. Some things, like carrots, did not grow but we will try next year.  The raccoons ate our corn on the cob.  The dirty little rascals!

In the summer, Avery turned 8 on July 28th and Colorado turned 14 on July 30th. Avery was baptized and is now in the elementary school in Grade 3.  Colorado is now in High School and attending Grade 9.  She chose to join the school play and got a part in “A Christmas Carol”.  She is an amazing actress.

In the summer, Grandma Russell came down with Uncle Rob to visit us.  It was wonderful to see her so she could have time to spend with the grandkids.  We went on walks, went to the beach and had loads of fun!

Dad got a chainsaw this past summer and he and the family cut, dragged and split four chords of dead wood from our backyard forest. It will now sit and season for the following winter.       This past fall, Isaac turned 11 on September 16 and Samuel turned 4 on the 18th.  Isaac is now in Middle School and Samuel is now the only one home with Mom.

Jarom had his birthday on Dec 1st and turned 16.  Now he can drive a car if he decides to go for his license!   We had a great Christmas and another New Year. We wish you all the best as we live our lives out here in the beautiful New Brunswick!

Love Jason, BJ, Jarom, Colorado, Isaac, Avery, Spencer and Samuel.
