Monday October 11th was our Canadian Thanksgiving. Before that though we had some company. Grandma and Grandpa Cambridge came for a visit (BJ's parent's). Here are some of the fun stuff we did while they were here. Sorry no pics. Totally forgot to take them.
Wednesday Oct 6th - Grandma and Grandpa left their home in Ontario Monday afternoon and arrived at Wednesday about 1 am in the morning. They hit a porcupine on the way and drove really slow after that.
Went to Avery's new play ground (in the evening) at his school. Jarom, Colorado and Isaac missed out attending youth/primary activities to enjoy some time with Grandma and Grandpa.
Thurs Oct 7th - Had no school! Hooray! PD Day. Played all day. Went to piano lessons later that afternoon. Grandma went to Isaac and Avery's lessons to meet their new teacher and hear them play.
Friday, Oct 8th - No school again today! Double Hooray! Scrambled to get ready and went swimming at the indoor Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John with Grandma and Grandpa. Had lots of fun, then went to the library downtown. Our kids REALLY enjoy hanging out at the library. Came home and Daddy had supper ready. Yay! What a cool Dad! Everyone watched "Back to the Future".
Saturday, Oct 9th - Mommy, Jarom, Colorado, Grandma and Grandpa got up really early and went to the Halifax Nova Scotia Temple for the day. We were able to do some family file names. Daddy stayed home and babysat the youngest 4. What an awesome Dad! Got home around 10 pm at night. What a wonderful, spiritually uplifting trip!
Sunday, October 10th - Went to church. Later that afternoon took Grandma and Grandpa on a walk up behind our house on the trails. So nice out with the leaves changing colours. Grandpa will be 79 next month and was not far behind us in his stride. He did just have knee surgery on one of his knees, but that didn't slow him down. Had a campfire before bed time and everyone told their most embarrassing moment.
Monday, October 11th - Cooked and baked all day long. Had a friend over and had a delicious tasting turkey with all the trimmings. Remember those small squash we grew? I think some were cross pollinated as butternut/pumpkin squash. They cooked up real tasty. Had some home-made pumpkin pie (with pumpkins from our garden), homemade apple crisp and turkey shaped sugar cookies. Everyone got stuffed!
This was also Grandpa Russell's birthday. 59 and still look'in young!
Tuesday, Oct 12th - Kids back to school and spent the day tidying up and doing laundry.
Wed, Oct 13th- Grandma and Grandpa head back to Ontario. Was a fun filled visit!
Other things we did while Grandma and Grandpa were here:
We watched lots more movies.
Built a fort by the garden out of sticks.
Played outside in the beautiful fall weather.
